History
Manufacturing timepieces, which feature cutting edge innovations, Rado is a Swiss watch company that has always appealed to watch lovers throughout the world. Tracing its origin from a small clockwork factory named the Schlup & Company, the Rado brand was founded in 1917 by three brothers- Fritz, Ernst and Werner in Lengnau. After making watch movements in its initial years the company switched to timepieces under the brand name Rado, with the launch of its first timekeeper collection in 1957.
The world’s first ever scratch-resistant watch, the Rado DiaStar was launched was launched by the brand in 1962. This range is still available for sale under the name DiaStar the Original. Rado is renowned for using distinctive materials in its watches such as lanthanum, tungsten and titanium carbide, sapphire crystal and ceramics.

Design
